What is the purpose of Project Generation?
The purpose of Project Generation is to inspire accelerated development of open-source image, sound and video manipulation projects through the creation of a central non-linear editing suite and the end-goal of an open-source motion picture developed by Project Generation and the community, for the community.
How will film production work?
Project Generation will oversee project development through the Preproduction and Production phases of the film in a professional film-production environment.
Post-production will then be used for project development as the raw footage and audio are opened to the open-source community in an organized process structured to push the development of all open-souce projects involved in order to create the quality desired for the final film.
The film which genre will demand the most of all projects and the community is Sci-Fi based and is intended to push the limits of development to successfully incorporate live-action and digital elements using open-source software. A script is currently in development.

Will the film sources be available to the community?
In addition to the free download of the Generation Production Suite, the final source footage, audio and digital elements (models, etc) will all be openly released to the public at the conclusion of the project under the Gnu GPL open-software license.
The final film and source materials will be available for download and/or purchase of the Project Generation 2-disc Special Edition DVD. You will soon be able to support Project Generation by pre-ordering the DVD!
Is Project Generation for- or non-profit?
While the Generation Production Suite will be freely available, Project Generation is, in fact a for-profit organization. This is necessary in order to have the resources required to develop the Generation Production Suite to its full potential, create the exciting film and development process desired and maximize the benefit to the other open-source projects involved.
How will Project Generation make money?
One word: "hardware". The Generation Production Suite is freely available and catered to work fully for every user out-of-the-box. However, a very large factor in how well a program runs depends on the hardware on which the program is operating.
Project Generation is working in conjunction with hardware manufactures to create a series of hardware enhancing periferals and full-blown editing systems catered specifically for use with the Generation Production Suite. The periferals will be made available as low-cost as possible and will vastly enhance the performance from the most basic to even the most powerful machines on which our suite is operating.
By no means will the Generation Production Suite be restricted without the use of periferals, but the hardware will emphasize the performance of the software such that quality, production value and overall application performance greatly benefit from their use.
Will Project Generation be hiring personnel?
Yes. We will be gathering a core group of developers who will focus on the stability and management of the development process for the Generation Production Suite. They will work in paid positions to focus on furthering the project and making rapid, stable progress.
How will Project Generation contribute to the other open-source projects involved?
Project Generation will provide a team of personnel to serve as liaisons and developers between us and each of the projects we will work with. Their purpose is to communicate the desired features as we find them and, working with the management of each individual project, dedicate their time to developing those resources for the mutual betterment of each project.
The features developed through the combined efforts of projects will be available as integral elements in the contributing open-source projects involved. We will then benefit from those developments by using those natively integrated tools in the Generation Production Suite, and pushing to find new features which will mutually benefit all projects.
Additionally, Project Generation will make every effort to financially contribute to and assist each of the open-source projects involved as we are able to. Money makes the world go around and they all greatly deserve it.
Will Project Generation take control of the other open-source projects involved?
Know that it is NOT our goal to over-take and control any other open-source project.
We desire to work in conjunction with, and in full support of, the projects in order to improve their state, status and features as well as our own and create a free, professional media environment from which the community can benefit.
